This website is meant as a historic placeholder for two of my previous endeavours, namely Feisbase and Irishtradmusic. Even though I stopped activities of both, I thought it would be nice to have this remembered on the internet.

In addition to these subjects, I have other interests which I would like to mention which are both work-related as well as personal.

Work

  • In my work in cybersecurity, I have been very much active in network forensics and open source investigations, with a strong interest in discovering data leaks.
  • I have contributed to the open source project Zeek (formerly known as Bro), by creating the RFB (VNC) parser and contributing to the SMB and NTLM parsers.
  • A somewhat cringy video of me presenting at BroCon can be found here. Speaking at a conference with a severe jetlag affected the overal smoothness of the talk just a bit 😉 .

Personal

  • I have great interest in Irish traditional music, with a strong preference for music from the Sliabh Luachra area. I am learning both the history and the playing of the music on fiddle and button accordeon.
  • For the Dutch accordeon magazine Klank, I have written several articles on Irish traditional musicians such as Jackie Daly, Richard Dwyer and Jack Talty.
